About Nexos

Nexos is a cross-party and multi-ethnic coalition that brings together actors of change from Equatorial Guinea, its diaspora and beyond.

Many members have been persecuted or exiled by the Obiang regime. Others are experienced in human rights law, activism, and the arts. All are determined to bring hope to the people of Equatorial Guinea by advocating for human rights and democracy.

The organisation was founded by the country’s leading opposition parties, including the Movement for the Self-Determination of the Island of Bioko (MAIB), the Movement for the Liberation of Equatorial Guinea Third Republic (MLGE 3R), the Democratic Republican Force (FDR) and the Union for Democracy and Social Development (UDDS), as well as renowned public figures such as Jesus MITOGO OYONO, MP for the Citizens for Innovation (CI) party, writer Donato NDONGO-BIDYOGO, LGBT rights defender Trifonia Melibea OBONO and the director of Radio Macuto Jose Maria OYONO ESENG.

Mission

Nexos is committed to ending the systematic abuse of human rights in Equatorial Guinea, holding the oppressive regime to account and facilitating justice for victims.

Leadership

Nexos is led by its President, Juan Carlos Ondo Angue, a prominent jurist and former President of the Supreme Court of Justice of Equatorial Guinea. The organisation is overseen by a board of directors.

Founder & President

Juan Carlos previously served as the President of the Supreme Court of Equatorial Guinea. During his time in this role, he focused on strenghtening the rule of law and advocated to ensure effective separation of powers and complete autonomy for the judiciary
